Sizing an image for social media

Every social platform displays images at its own dimensions. When an image does not match, it gets cropped or padded — and either changes how it reads.

This tool brings an image to the right shape in advance rather than leaving the crop to the platform.

How to use it

Upload the image, pick the target format, and use the preview to confirm the subject stays fully in frame.

Move the crop so that important elements are not near the edge: thumbnails in feeds are frequently cropped further.

What to watch for

Square and portrait shapes usually perform better on phones than wide landscape ones, simply because they occupy more of the screen.

Keep any text in the image away from the edges and large enough to read; fine lettering disappears on small screens.

Frequently asked questions

Is my original image modified?

No. A new file is produced and the original stays as it is until you choose to replace it yourself.

Why does the platform still crop my image?

Some views use a different shape from the post itself, so leave a little margin at the edges.

Which size is the right one?

It depends on the network and the post type, and it changes over time. When in doubt, verify with a test post.
