Metadata is the information a PDF carries about itself: title, author, subject, keywords and the producing application.

It does not appear in the text but is read by file managers, search functions and viewers.

How to use it

Upload the file to see the existing entries, adjust the fields and save the document again.

The title matters most: many programs show it in the window bar instead of the file name.

Why this is worth checking

Before passing a document on, it pays to look at the metadata: it often still names the person or template the document grew out of.

For documents published on a website, meaningful entries also help them be found.

Is my original PDF modified?

No. A new file is produced and the original stays as it is until you choose to replace it yourself.

Does the visible content change?

No. Only the information about the file is edited; pages and text stay as they are.

Can I clear all the fields?

Yes. Empty fields are allowed if you would rather not disclose anything about the document's origin.
