Cropping the video frame

This tool reduces the visible frame of a video: everything outside the selection is removed. The duration is unchanged.

Use it to get rid of black bars, unwanted borders, or parts of the picture you would rather not show.

How to use it

Upload the video and drag the selection frame over the area to keep, then confirm the crop.

Mind the aspect ratio of the result: a shape that differs sharply from the target will simply be padded again on playback.

How this differs from trimming

Here the picture area shrinks, not the duration. To remove passages, use the trimming tool instead.

Both steps can be applied in sequence — trim the duration first, then crop the frame, to avoid processing footage you are going to discard.

Is my original video modified?

No. A new file is produced and the original stays as it is until you choose to replace it yourself.

Does cropping reduce resolution?

The remaining area keeps its pixels but there are fewer of them overall, so the result has smaller dimensions.

Is there a limit on file size?

Processing happens in your browser, so it is bound by available memory. For very large files, close other tabs or use a device with more memory.
